Drum and Dye find their inspiration in the traditions of prewar Blues, Jazz and Western Swing, covering a broad swath of musical Americana. They stand on the shoulders of the great blues duos Sonny & Brownie, Junior & Buddy, Cephis & Wiggins and Ball & Sultan.
John Paul Drum brings everything together with his heartfelt vocals and superb harmonica skills. John Paul also captured the top prize in Memphis, winning the Lee Oscar Best Harmonica Player award with the highest score ever to be recorded in the 39 years of the event.
Guitarist Bill Dye is a formidable musician with decades of experience, including his time as a member of the Luther Allison band and as longtime guitarist for harmonica player, Little Hatch. He is a recent winner of the International Blues Challenge award for best guitarist in solo/duo performance and a 2026 inductee into the Nebraska Performing Arts Hall of Fame. His talent and depth of musical knowledge make him a highly sought after instrumentalist for recording and performing.
John Paul and Bill also perform with Kansas City’s top blues band, The Houserockers, a collaboration of KC blues heavyweights at the world-famous Knuckleheads Saloon. Playing a mix of scorching Chicago style blues and Kansas City swing, these masters of American music are not to be missed.
