Kent Burnside was born into the blues. The oldest grandson and close pupil of legendary bluesman R.L. Burnside, he began his music career with Jimbo Mathus and toured with Buddy Guy in the early 2000s. During that time, he developed his signature style: dark, hypnotic, inviting, and danceable.
Over the past 20 years, Kent has fronted his own band, blending Mississippi Hill Country, Delta, Chicago blues, and blues-rock. His new album, Hill Country Blood, produced by GRAMMY winner Boo Mitchell, features eight originals plus covers of John Lee Hooker and Junior Kimbrough. Raw, soulful, and high-energy, the record honors tradition while forging ahead.
His music keeps blues tradition rooted in a modern groove, creating a sound that feels fresh and engaging.
Kent has spent decades performing at festivals and touring worldwide, including appearances at the 2019 Blues Rules Festival in Switzerland and a two-week tour in Australia.
