SUMMARY:Member & Volunteer Appreciation Picnic
DESCRIPTION:The Kansas City Blues Society is excited for our 2026 Member and Volunteer Appreciation Event. Please join us as we welcome 2026 KCBS Road to Memphis winners Get to Steppin’ for a laid-back evening of food\, fun and great blues music in celebration of our members and volunteers. \n\n\n\nGet to Steppin’ band will represent Kansas City in the IBC in January 2027\n\n\n\nThis year’s appreciation party is a pot-luck picnic in the park with live blues music. Bring friends and guests! Attendees are welcome and encouraged to invite guests at no cost. Please encourage them to bring a dish. \n\n\n\nThe Kansas City Blues Society will provide BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and grilled hotdogs with all the accompaniments and we will provide tableware. We are asking our members to bring one of their favorite dishes to share with your Kansas City blues friends. \n\n\n\nThe event will be in the pavilion at Franklin Park in Prairie Village\, KS. We will have a roof over our heads\, so this event is rain or shine. The site includes running water\, electricity\, picnic tables and bathrooms. The walk to the pavilion is 20-30 yards from the parking lot. \n\n\n\nAttendees are welcome to show up any time after 5:00. Food will be on by 5:30 with Get to Steppin’ firing up at 6:00 for an evening that will end around 8:30. \n\n\n\nWe will offer single and couples membership discounts to your guests if they join KCBS at the event. This is an opportunity for our members to help us build our blues community. \n\n\n\nPlease bring your own drinks and be prepared to keep adult beverages in nondescript containers and cups. We will have some plastic cups available. Mark your calendars\, map out the route\, plan a dish you like to share and join us for an evening of fun with the KCBS.
